The Foundation
The Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation (MLEMF) is a charitable, non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation founded in 1995 for the express purpose of building and maintaining a permanent memorial to the memory of law enforcement officers who have been killed in the line of duty in Massachusetts. The Board of Directors and the Memorial Committee are comprised of surviving family members of law enforcement officers and leaders from the law enforcement, business and governmental communities of Massachusetts.
Purpose
Over 394 law enforcement officers have lost their lives while protecting the citizens of the Commonwealth. This encompasses state and local police, federal, sheriff and correction officers. The Massachusetts Law Enforcement Memorial will serve as a permanent reminder of their dedication and ultimate sacrifice. It will be a place where surviving family members, fellow officers and the general public can go to reflect and remember that our way of life has been protected and enhanced by them. It will ensure that their sacrifices are remembered by future generations and visitors to our state.
