Law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty in Massachusetts

Sergeant Frederick Schlehuber Age: 45 years old Tour: 19 years, 6 months Boston Police End of Watch: Thursday, November 10, 1910
Sergeant Frederick Schlehuber was shot and killed by a rape suspect while questioning the man in the District Attorney's Office in what is now the John Adams Courthouse.

He was sitting with the stepfather of a victim, waiting for a meeting between the district attorney and suspect, when the suspect suddenly appeared and opened fire. The man shot the stepfather and Sergeant Schlehuber before being subdued by other officers.

Sergeant Schlehuber died while being transported to a local hospital.

Sergeant Schlehuber had served with the Boston Police Department for 19-1/2 years and was assigned to Division 11. He was survived by his wife and one child.
