Law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty in Massachusetts

Captain Hugh J. Lee Age: 53 years old Tour: 30 years Boston Police End of Watch: Saturday, May 3, 1919
Captain Hugh Lee suffered a fatal heart attack several hours after assisting at the scene of a large riot in which Patrolman Adolph Butterman had been shot. He was transported to a local hospital after collapsing. He remained in the hospital until passing away two days later.

Patrolman Butterman died from his wounds six weeks later.

Captain Lee had served with the Boston Police Department for 30 years. He was survived by his wife.
