Law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty in Massachusetts

Officer John J. Earle Age: 34 years old Tour: 4 years Boston Police End of Watch: Saturday, October 21, 1916
Patrolman Earle succumbed to injuries received the previous day when he was crushed between two trolley cars the intersection of Boylston Street and Washington Street. The inbound trolley failed to make the switch properly and struck the outbound trolley, causing the accident.

Patrolman Earle had been with the agency for four years.
