Law enforcement officer killed in the line of duty in Massachusetts

Trooper Alfred A. Hewitt Age: 32 years old Tour: 2 years State Police End of Watch: Sunday, June 4, 1950
Patrolman Alfred Hewitt was struck and killed on the Newburyport Turnpike, in Saugus, while writing a traffic citation.

Two trucks collided and then struck Patrolman Hewitt as he was standing outside of his patrol car. Both truck drivers were charged in relation to the incident.

Patrolman Hewitt was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and had served with the Massachusetts State Police for two years.
